Research Statement The Stock-Terra Company believes that only sound
scientific proofs should be used when describing results the consumer should
expect to achieve. Therefore we will not post research results that are not
specifically conducted on our bedding brands, processed to our
specifications, or manufactured on our machines. Nor will we post
information that contains shocking information about a bedding material that
may infer a negative opinion of the material.
The use of corrugated material for animal bedding has been utilized for
many years, mainly in the UK. Through those manufacturers, a wealth of
interesting data is available. You can search for their sites and review the
information at your leisure. In North America most research conducted on
paper products, to be used as animal bedding, has been with newsprint. Some
of the studies' findings may apply to our bedding brands, but we will not
extrapolate those findings for our own use, and since we are not associated
with the UK manufacturers, nor do we possess any knowledge of the types of
material used, we will not pass off their research to our customers.
We have found that many animal owners choose animal bedding material by
tradition, i.e. materials their parents used, or material that has
traditionally been available in their area. We also recognize that some
animal owners choose a bedding material that is attractive to them, such as
materials with pleasant aromas. The Stock-Terra Company is offering, in our
opinion, a sound alternative to the traditional materials used for animal
bedding. We have reviewed the data from the US and UK, and conducted our own
field trials. Based on our findings we have created our bedding brands, each
one specifically designed to enhance your animals' living environment, are
safe for the human caregiver, and appropriate for disposal on the land.
Absorption Capabilities
A wide variety of tests have been conducted on various paper-based
bedding products in an attempt to determine their ability to hold moisture.
Results vary widely, so we conducted our own trials, on our bedding brands.
We have determined that the OCC we use, processed to our individual brand
specifications, possesses an ability to hold approximately 400 pounds of
water, per 100 pounds of bedding material.
If you are curious about existing data concerning traditional animal
bedding materials, we invite you to conduct your own internet search,
consult with extension specialists or ask your veterinarian, and then draw
your own conclusions. We are confident that what you learn will bring you to
us, and a long term business relationship will occur.

Extol Poultry & Game Bird Bedding
The need for an economic and performance evaluation of the Extol Poultry
and Game Bird Bedding arose recently, and The Stock-Terra Company initiated
a detailed evaluation of the bedding material. The tests were conducted at a
major Midwestern University. Areas being evaluated include: proper depth of
material, particle size and color of material, ph, protein deposition,
absorption capabilities, caking, bird activity, bird cleanliness, growth
rate, feed conversion, mortality, and morbidity.
The results of the evaluation are being compiled and we will release the
data as soon as it is published in the Journal of Poultry Science. As other
areas demand quality research we will initiate those trials, and only post
verifiable test results.
